Meet Dr. Daniel Ha
If you've spent years cycling through medications that didn't land, or you're carrying something that feels too complex for the standard script, you're exactly who Dr. Ha had in mind when he shaped his approach to care.
Full Bio
Dr. Daniel Jinho Ha is a board-certified psychiatrist with a particular focus on the cases that don't fit neatly into a prescription pad, ADHD, complex trauma, treatment-resistant mood disorders, and the kind of suffering that asks for a more thoughtful approach. He brings together the discipline of evidence-based medicine with a genuinely holistic lens: one that takes into account the biological, psychological, and lifestyle factors shaping your mental health, not just the symptoms on the surface.
He earned his M.D. from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Tennessee, where he was recognized with the Resident as Educator award, a reflection of how he approaches his work: with patience, clarity, and a belief that understanding your own care matters as much as receiving it.
A native Texan, Dr. Ha returned to the Austin area with his wife, who is an OB-GYN. When he isn't seeing patients, you'll find him tending to his garden, working through Austin's local food scene restaurant by restaurant, or cheering on his Aggies.
What Your First Visit Looks Like
Your first appointment is a conversation, not a checklist. Dr. Ha takes the time to understand your history, what you've already tried, and what you're actually hoping for. From there, you'll work together to build a plan that makes sense for your life, not just your diagnosis.
Most patients leave their first visit feeling heard. If you've had the opposite experience before, that matters more than it sounds.
Appointments are available in-person at the Southgate office and virtually throughout Texas & Colorado.
My Approach
“Good psychiatry isn't just about managing symptoms, it's about understanding what's driving them.”
You're more than your diagnosis.
Every patient brings a unique history, biology, and set of circumstances. Dr. Ha takes the time to understand the full picture before reaching for a prescription, because the right treatment depends on the right understanding.
Evidence-based doesn't mean one-size-fits-all.
Dr. Ha draws from a wide range of tools, conventional medications, and lifestyle interventions, guided by what the research supports and what the individual actually needs.
When something hasn't worked, that's data, not defeat.
If you've been through treatment that didn't stick, Dr. Ha treats that as meaningful clinical information. Treatment-resistant conditions are a specialty, not an afterthought.
Areas of Focus
-
If you've been told your treatment is working "on paper" but you still don't feel like yourself, or you've cycled through medications without lasting relief, this is Dr. Ha's core focus. He specializes in understanding why previous approaches didn't land and building a path forward from there.
-
Whether you're navigating depression, mood instability, or simply want a psychiatrist who will take time to actually know you, Dr. Ha provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management for adults at any stage of their mental health journey.
-
A prescription is sometimes part of the answer, but rarely all of it. Dr. Ha looks at the full picture: sleep, lifestyle, psychological patterns, and biological factors together. The goal isn't just fewer symptoms. It's helping you feel genuinely well in your everyday life.
Whether you're navigating something you've never been able to name, or you've been through the system without finding relief, Dr. Ha works with:
-
ADHD is frequently misdiagnosed, missed entirely, or managed in ways that don't account for how it actually shows up in your day-to-day life. Dr. Ha works with adults who are navigating attention, focus, and executive function challenges, whether you're coming in with a longstanding diagnosis or wondering for the first time if ADHD might be part of what you're dealing with.
-
Anxiety is one of the most common and most undertreated mental health conditions, partly because it can disguise itself so well. Dr. Ha works with patients experiencing generalized anxiety, panic, social anxiety, and anxiety that has persisted despite previous treatment attempts.
-
Trauma doesn't always look the way people expect it to. Dr. Ha works with patients carrying layered, long-standing experiences, the kind that are hard to put into words and even harder to treat with a standard protocol. You don't need to have a single defining event to deserve this kind of care.
